Increasingly, futurists/premillennialists are seen as a “dangerous” and “extreme” fringe, namely, because we are caricatured as not caring about the here and now (i.e. the environment, social justice, etc.). Our foes often invoke Tim LaHaye and his Left Behind series as emblematic for conservative, evangelical, futurism in their derision for us. To be sure, I have a lot of criticism for the pretribulationism of the Left Behind theology. But folks like Brian McLaren and N.T Wright and Barbara Rossing who is the author of The Rapture Exposed use Left Behind to denote not just pretribulationists but all futurists, including prewrathers, who believe, for example, the book of Revelation should be taken basically literal, and who believe in a future, literal Antichrist figure, and a future seven-year period, etc.
In short, they think we are nuts and even immoral for believing what we do and thus should be ostracized—and shamed!
But these folks are not as “objective” as some think, whether it is N.T Wright’s vehement anti-Americanism and hyper-realized eschatology or Brian McLaren’s apostate agenda. A recent article exposes the leftist and homosexual ideology of one of these folks, Barbara Rossing. I recommend reading the article:
