Is the Identity of the 24 Elders in the Book of Revelation the “Church”?

Hey, can anyone give me a biblical answer to the identity of the 24 elders? I'm dealing with the pre-trib “they have to be the church” thing….I am using the obvious evidence in Revelation but that doesn't seem to be making a dent here….

For those who do not know, Marquis Laughlin has entire books of the Bible memorized, including Revelation. He goes around the country to various churches and delivers dramatic presentations of these books. I saw him deliver the book of Revelation in Eau Claire, Wisconsin about fifteen years ago.
